Carbon Farm Planning & Implementation
Carbon farm plans identify practices that allow agricultural operations increase carbon sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This has the potential to improve soil health, water holding capacity, crop production, water conservation, and natural habitat. This carbon farm plan was developed for a 101 acre vineyard in the City of Napa. Conservation practices include compost application, reduction of tillage, establishment of a winter/permanent cover crop in between vine rows, replacement of herbicides under the vine with the establishment of a cover crop or the use of wood mulch, the establishment of hedgerows, and riparian habitat enhancements.
