Water Management and Conservation
In-Stream Flow Enhancement
This project seeks to promote water conservation and alternative water sourcing in the upper tributaries of Green Valley Creekâs Atascadero subwatershed, where exceptional summer streamflow even in drought conditions has provided summer rearing habitat for salmonids, but where rural residential properties rely heavily on riparian diversions and near-channel wells. This grant will provide funding for community outreach, site assessment and prioritization, and design of 3-6 roof rainwater catchment systems with forbearance stipulations to offset summer stream diversions, serving as demonstration projects for other riparian landowners in the area.
